From Our Founder

When I ws a little girl, one of my favorite memories was spending the day with my grandmother at Stewart's Department Store in downtown Louisville. We would wander through the beautiful displays, try on clothes, and admire everything the store had to offer. Occasionally, she would surprise me with a special outfit--or I would find it wrapped beneath the Christmas tree later that year.

But I remember most wasn't the clothing.

I remember the experience.

I remember the ladies laughing together, sharing stories, and enjoying one another's company. I remember the elegance of the restaurant inside the store, where lunch was served on the fine china with polished silverware. I remember women dressed in their Sunday best, wearing gloves, carrying themselves with grace, and making an ordinary shopping trip feel like a celebration.

Those memories stayed with me. As the years have passed, shopping has changed. Today, so much happens online, the simple joy of browsing, discovering something beautiful, and sharing that experience with others has slowly disappeared. For many seniors, those opportunities have become even more limited due to mobility, health, financial circumstances, or the loss of independence.

That realization planted the seed for GiGi's Closet.

GiGi's Closet was founded on a simple belief, every senior deserves the dignity of choosing what they wear and the joy of feeling beautiful--regardless of age, income, or physical limitations.

When people hear the words clothing donation, they often picture folding tables, cardboard boxes, and simply distributing necessities. While those efforts certainly meet an important need, I believe our serniors deserve something more.
Many older adults living in assissted living communities, nursing home, and memory care facilities have experienced tremendous loss. They may have lost a spouse, a home, treasured possessions, their independence, or even the simple privilege of deciding what to wear each morning.
I didn't want to crete another clothing drive.
I wanted to recreate an experience.
A boutique where seniors could browse at their own pace. A place where they could touch fabrics, compare styles, choose somethingthat reflecst who they are, and leave feeling confident, valued, and seen.
Because clothing is never just clothing.
It is identity.
It is confidence.
It is dignity.

Every boutique we bring into a senior community is designed to restore a small piece of what time, illness, or circumstance may have taken away. More than providing outfits, we create moments of joy, conversation, laughter, and connection.

Our hope is that every resident who walks through GiG's Closet leaves with more than a new outfit. We hope they leave with a feeling remembered, respected, and celebrated.

Becasue every outfit has a story.

And every senior has one, too.

Thank you for believing in this mission and for helping us restore dignity, one boutique, one smile, and one story at a time.

With Gratitude,
Lisa Lee
